Hi Everyone

Just a short update on the camp.

Week 1 is now full and we have 2 people on the waiting list who can’t make

the dates on week 2 – If anyone would like to change their date then we

 could arrange that.

Week 2 has 8 places remaining, so if you know anyone who might be interested

then please pass on my number or e-mail address

 TRAVEL DETAILS

If you haven’t already booked your flights then here are the details.

If you are FLYING FROM LEEDS

Week 1

BACK - Saturday May 15 Jet 2 - Malaga - Leeds – 1pm

Week 2

OUT - Sunday May 16 Jet 2 - Leeds - Malaga – 8am

BACK - Saturday May 22 Jet 2 - Malaga - Leeds – 1pm

On Weeks 1 & 2, if you are FLYING FROM AN ALTERNATIVE AIRPORT then you need

a flight that will get you to Malaga for approx 12 NOON ON THE SUNDAY.

Swim Session Feedback - Please add your feedback below

Many thanks to Walter for an excellent and well attended session which focused on bilateral breathing whilst securing 1600-2000 metres in the pool for all abilities. It was a great get together and very useful. I am sure we all learnt something. Even if you do not adopt bilateral breathing after this session it is a worth while thing to be able to do. When competing in open water events you never know if the sun may be low to the left or right at dawn, in sea swims you never know if the swell and waves will hit you from the left or right or head on and it also allows you to follow a line of buoys to both left and right if this assists you with navigation. It is an important skill to have even if you use only infrequently and one extremely well taught by Walter. Walter will have news of another Ampleforth Swim Session in April or early May so watch this space!! posted by Mark Rees 280309

Thank you Walter. I'm looking forward to the next session. best wishes Jon Z

RYEDALE MEMBERS - GROUP SWIM SESSION OPPORTUNITIES

A much overdue lane swim session between 8pm and 9pm has started at Derwent Pool in Norton, Malton and after dragging myself down to it tonight I was pleased to see both Jeff Mowbray and Gary Scott. I will not be able to make every Wednesday due to shifts etc. but I hope to make many and if Malton is handy for you this session could be a chance to meet up with other club members and get some decent swimming done in quiet lanes. Apparently this session is never very busy. I hope to see some Ryedale NYP Tri members there in the future.  Reesy 010409

Ride Report

Well I cheated .... a little, as Anna gave me a lift to Hovingham before I struggled into some freezing rain and strong head winds up to Sutton Bank for 1300 hrs ( Excuses, excuses but I ended up working until 7 am this morning and did not get up in time to ride all the way to the visitors centre from Malton ). I met Damien at just after 1pm and we rode down into Ryedale with the wind behind us almost effortlessly!! It was fantastic. I never knew riding a bike could be so easy. Unfortunately Caroline had car problems so had to cancel but Damien and I took some scenic back roads and ended up back in Malton for Tea and bagels at my house in record breaking time. Anyway Damien is now on his way back to Sutton Bank INTO THE WIND and heavy rain which has just swept in from the west and is no doubt cursing me!! Just remember Damien the words of Lance Armstrong. ''Only Champions will be out in this weather, only Champions Damien!!'' Thanks for the company and for finally getting me back in the saddle after a month of nothing following IMUK!

Ride Report

well despite a coffee and snack stop at Thornton Le Dale I seriously bonked today! Absolutely nothing in the legs nor the tank and I spent the ride trying to blame my first game of squash in 17 years this week which has trashed muscles I did not know I had. Thanks to Richard for his company. We split after 32 miles as he headed off for more up towards Rievaulx Abbey and I limped back to Castle Howard with a tired 40 miles in the bag. Nic, go easy on me tomorrow! It will be slow and it will be flat! Posted by Mark Rees 011009

If you are a decent rider these will be great sessions ( you need to be able to go a bit faster and eat a bit less than Reesy! ). I am running some advanced Pilates classes in Harrogate on Tuesday evenings. If you know how to access your core muscles then you are welcome to attend even if you have not done pilates before. But be advised this class is not for beginners.
